What/where is the origin of the male name Aiden?

That's my name! However, I spell it Aidan which is considered the correct spelling (it's how the Saint spells it), Aiden is how people spell my name wrong all the time. But yes, it's from Ireland and stems from Aodh and means 'little fire' or 'fiery one'. It's been a great name for me so far; I'm British and have only ever met one other Aidan, it's unusual but people are still familiar with it.

*EDIT* RK, not all users are from the US. There are plenty on here who are from the UK, where the name Aidan is much more unusual. Please be a bit more open-minded next time.

What/where is the origin of the male name Aiden?
It is Irish and means fiery. It can be either a boy's or a girl's name. According to the US Social Security Administration, Aiden is the 27th most popular baby name for the year 2007. If you include both boys and girls, and throw in alternative spellings like Aidan, Ayden, Aden, Aydan, Aydin, Adan, Aidyn, Aaden, Adin, Adian, Adyn, Adon, Auden, Aidon, Aidin, Adien, Aydon, Aadyn, Aayden, and Aaiden, babycenter.com says it is the 4th most popular US name in 2008. Not so unusual then.
Reply:Aiden is the English form of the Irish name Aodh谩n:

From the old Irish name 脕ed谩n, a diminutive of 脕ed (see AODH). This was the name of an Irish monk and saint of the 7th century. It was also borne by several characters in Irish mythology.
