What should I name my male Golden Retriever?

Logan, Gordie, or Monty?

What should I name my male Golden Retriever?
Logonty (mix of all 3) (sounds like low-gone-T)
Reply:Monty, it sounds sophisticated and would go well with his golden good looks (attitude wise, maybe not, but it sounds cool)
Reply:Charlie
Reply:gordie its cute for a puupy
Reply:Raymond...somehow i think it fits with a golden retriever because they are roughlike in a good way and the name Raymond sounds rough and courageous

Logan is ok...Gordie sounds wierd and Monty sounds like an old man
Reply:I like Logan, just seems to fit!
Reply:Gordie. I like how it matches the way golden retrievers look.
Reply:I don't really like those names, but Monty is the best.
Reply:Gordie of the 3.

curious: why one of these 3?
Reply:how about golden boy or goldie ?
Reply:bimbo
Reply:STEVE....I always thought that would be a funny name for a dog.
Reply:i know a chocolate lab named Logan, and he is a complete spaz....but he's a great dog, so I go with logan.
Reply:logan
Reply:What an interesting question. I have a little test I use to name dogs. Sit quietly with your dog in an outside area, but not too busy or full of distractions. Let your dog relax or just explore the environment. Say the first name that you think of in a clear voice ONCE. Watch your dogs response, personaly I like "Monty" with a hard 'T', because it has some specific sounds that are pleasing to the dogs ear. The name that produces your dogs attention, on you, the quickest and with perhaps some tail wags is probably the one that will work the best. Then remember that your dogs name should mean one thing "Look here at me, and we will have some FUN!" it should not be used to tell your dog to Stop doing things you don't like, that is "NO". Make sure that even if your dog is doing something you don't like and you say his name, if he looks at you, he deserves a little party! You can also use any name the dog hears and responds to, and make it stronger by rewarding him with something he likes, I use Clicker Training to teach dogs exactly what I want when I say their name. My last two dogs pretty much named themselves ("Yanque" sounds like Yankee and "Bizzy" cause he is!)because their names came to my head and I listened and then said it, they LIKE their name because it sounds good to them and they get a good response from me. I do not repeat over and over the name, I want them to LOOK AT ME the first time and find me to LOOK AT ME if they can't see me, like in another room. Good luck and I hope you pick a name you both like!

p.s. When I put my dog on a "Down" and say his name if he is not looking at me, he will continue to Down but still looks at me for further instructions, that should be a goal for training.
Reply:Gordie is the best of the 3 but not really keen on any of those names...

I had a Golden for 14 years and Ben was the best dog ever...

I loved the name Sherlock for a golden as well

( You are so lucky!!)
Reply:teddy!!!!!!!!!!!! totally a sweet 1! out of your names logan!

Reply:name it Monty!
Reply:Don't like any of those names but I guess Monty
Reply:Ugh. Monty is OK. But how about Larry?
Reply:Logan is a cool name, i dont know why youve chosen it bu it reminds me of wolverine, it sounds better, the other names may sound well now that its a puppy (i suppose its still a puppy).
