Is the first male name JOUEL cherokee origin?

It is old French "jouel," a diminutive form of "jou" meaning delight. The English word Jewel, for a gem is a 13th century Anglicisation, which derives from the Old French, as in a Gem which is a delight to behold.

If there is someone of Cherokee origin who has the name, I would suggest that it might have been adopted at the time when Cherokee nation was part of Colonial French North America. As the French had possessions in lands of the Cherokee nation.
