Anyone know of a Male Name that has Lasted Many Generations?

My husband is Alexander Dorian the fifth. My son will be the 6th. I have only heard of families with juniors and even thirds. Anyone know of it going this long? I am not too big on this, but I actually happened to LOVE Alexander so my hubby got lucky- haha.

Anyone know of a Male Name that has Lasted Many Generations?
My best friends husband is the 9th in his family and she is about to have a baby and if its a boy, it will be #10 :o) They really want a girl because there are soooooooooooooooooo many boys in his family and hers...lol
Reply:Only on popes or royalty. I personally don't like the practice. We named our son James Kenneth. My husband is Kevin Kenneth, and his father was Kenneth Ernest Jr. Kenneth's been a family name for over five generations, but everybody gets their own name, and I like it that way. It's the best of both worlds!
Reply:I love Alexander Dorian, it's very cute!

A few names in my family have lasted over 3 generations, including:

Matthew Leon (Matt)

Charles Benedict (Charlie and Chuck)

Marie Antoinette, Antoinette has been exchanged for St. Claire (My name is Marie St. Claire)
Reply:LOL my family is up too the 6th also! My brother is the fifth, my dad is the fourth, his father was the third, his father was the second and my great great great grandpa was the first!

Peter James
Reply:Think of the British Monarchy.

The Josephs', the Charles', the Georges', the Williams'.

This is the insanity started by the early Brits. But I'm so glad we don't see it too much anymore.
Reply:My husband is the 7th Larry in the family line, but not where the entire name is the same. Not Junior or third and so on. Oh and our son is Larry too.
Reply:I am Richard Harnedy 5th. And you can guarantee my son will be the 6th. I think generational names are awesome
Reply:We have 5 generations of Williams (either first or middle names)
Reply:john Jacob( which i hate) Alexander Nicholas
Reply:it is cute!! my husband is robert william the 3rd and thats as far as we r letting it go! if we ever have a boy he will not be the 4th!
Reply:i think it's cute.

the farthest i've heard is 3rd. :)
Reply:Whats the question?

What good male name would go with Agrona?

i need help with my story, Agrona is a white tiger that can transform into a human. and her boyfriend is a demon fox. Agrona means battle or slaughter.

What good male name would go with Agrona?
Why not Belenus? It does mean "Shining One" but Belenus was the God of fire, and a similarly-named god was Belatucadros which seems to mean "Fair Shining One" and was a Welsh god of war.

What male name makes you think of mystery, power and protectiveness?

It could be one of the traits specifically or a mix off all three. However, please I am trying to stay away from common names such as John, Tim, Tom, Edward, James etc.

Please tell me the origin if you know it!

Thanks!

Reply:Umm... Nyx, which means night in latin and sounds fairly mysterious.

Rivenbane, because it sounds quite manly.

And Virote, which has a Thai origin and means "powerful".

Lastly, I'm not too sure if this is too common, but Montague sounds pretty good for all three of those.

Reply:The name Mark or Martin makes me think of mystery.

Mark~ Familiar form of MARCUS. Saint Mark was the author of the second Gospel in the New Testament. He is the patron saint of Venice, where he is supposedly buried. Another famous bearer of this name was Mark Antony (Marcus Antonius), the Roman triumvir who was the lover of Cleopatra. Shakespeare tells this story in his tragedy 'Antony and Cleopatra'. Yet another famous bearer was the American author Mark Twain, real name Samuel Clemens, author of 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Huckleberry Finn' (he actually took his pen name from a call used by riverboat workers on the Mississippi River to indicate a depth of two fathoms).

Martin~ From the Roman name Martinus, which was derived from Martis, the genitive case of the name of the Roman god MARS. Saint Martin of Tours was a 4th-century bishop who is the patron saint of France. According to legend, he came across a cold beggar in the middle of winter so he ripped his cloak in two and gave half of it to the beggar.

Five popes have borne this name. Two other influential bearers were Martin Luther, the theologian who began the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, and more recently Martin Luther King, the American civil rights leader who fought for racial equality.

Hope this helps!
Reply:Maximus(max) or Darius
