I have looked on the internet - but no where is very helpful.

What is a Japanese male name for 'dark'?

Reply:Show me any language that has a name for dark or night.

You won't find one.

Why?

Because people name their children to give them strong, poetic names. You don't want anyone who might come off as evil. You want a name that will bring a good reputation to your family/clan, you don't want to introduce your child to your neighbors and basically say, "Why, yes, we hope he burns and pillages and rapes whole villages. That is why we named him Insane Killer Johnson."

A WORD for dark is kurai or yami; a WORD for night is yoru. If you want to make them into names then go right ahead.
Reply:This is not a name( its a noun), but you could stick with this:

暗黒 (闇黒) -%26gt; あんこく -%26gt;ANKOKU

It means Darkness, dark, night, world without moral
Reply:Toast.
